Vintage Johannes Anderson Rosewood Dining Chairs
by MCM-SF
A set of six Scandinavian dining chairs designed by Johannes Andersen for Uldum Møbelfabrik, circa 1960s. Crafted from exquisite rosewood, these chairs feature a distinctive frame that embodies Andersen’s signature design language. The most striking element is the backrest—rectangular with curved edges and an open center—creating the illusion of it floating within the frame, a hallmark of Andersen’s work.
This open-back design not only enhances visual lightness but also allows the dining table to remain a focal point rather than obstructing the line of sight. The frame continues this elegant motif, particularly in the crossbar connecting the front and back legs. Every curve and rounded edge reflects meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
The upholstered seats, original to the set, feature an off-white woven pattern.
